Why Fast-Twitch Isokinetic Training? In the past, the attempt to improve speed, strength and explosive power was limited to plyometric and eccentrically loaded exercise programs. One major disadvantage of eccentrically loaded exercise programs is the threat of injury. The load on your joints and stretch on muscles they cause can break down your neuro-muscular system and limit the speed at which you can safely train. The difference with our high-speed isokinetics training is the use of concentric loading and accurate control of angular velocity through the full range of motion. The muscles experience constant resistance through the full range of motion which results in greater strength gains especially at higher velocities. Traditionally, maximal oxygen uptake (V02 max) has been viewed as the key component to success in prolonged exercise activies. However, more recently scientists have reported that Lactate Threshold (LT) is the most consistent predictor of performance in endurance events, or sustaining athletic performance throughout an entire game. In addition, training with resistance at high speeds brings with it an anaerobic workout with aerobic benefits. The result is a higher LT and an increase in the number of neuro-muscular pathways from the brain to the fast-twitch muscle fibers, which enables you to run faster, jump higher and perform at peak levels longer.
